Road Exit Glacier Closed to Vehicles for Winter 2014-15

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Oct. 21, 2014. It is reproduced in full below.

On Wednesday, Oct. 22, the gate at the Box Canyon Bridge (mile 1.3 on Herman Leirer Road) will close to vehicle traffic due to deteriorating driving conditions. Visitors can continue to access Kenai Fjords National Park using other modes of transportation.

For the safety of visitors and wildlife, bikes and dogs are welcome on the road and in the Exit Glacier Nature Center parking lot, but are prohibited on trails.

For updated conditions throughout the winter season, visit the park's website at https://www.nps.gov/kefj/planyourvisit/conditions.htm.
