Devils Postpile National Monument is proposing to increase campground fees in the monument. The campground fee would increase from $14 per night to $20 per night. According to the U.S. Bureau of labor and Statistics, $14 in 2000 is equivalent to $19.35 in 2014. This fee change will allow Devils Postpile to maintain consistent revenue while adjusting accordingly for inflation.
The additional revenue from the fee increase will be used to enhance visitor services, including repair and maintenance of park facilities, restoration and rehabilitation of the Devils Postpile Ranger Station and day-use area, additional park programs and increase resource protection.
A 30-day public engagement period on the proposed fee increase is open today, Monday, Nov. 3, 2014 through Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014. Feedback will be accepted via email at: e-mail us and via U.S. Mail at: Superintendent Attention Proposed Fee Increase P.O. Box 3999 Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546.
The new fees could be implemented in early 2015. However, the civic engagement feedback will determine how, or if, a fee increase would be implemented.
