BOULDER CITY, Nevada -The Wetlands Trail in Lake Mead National Recreation Area is now open on weekends and holidays. It was closed Feb. 10 for construction of a new grade control structure in the Lower Las Vegas Wash.
Because the construction project is taking longer than anticipated, work has been restricted to weekdays. This will allow visitors the opportunity to recreate along the trail during weekends and holidays.
The grade control structure will reduce erosion in the Las Vegas Wash to protect stability of the bridge. It will also reduce sedimentation transported from erosion in the wash into Lake Mead, as well as protect Lake Las Vegas Dam and outlet works.
