The National Park Service has selected White Sands Trading, LLC, to provide retail and limited food and beverage services under a new ten-year concession contract in White Sands National Monument. The existing concession contract will expire on Dec. 31, 2014, and the new concession contract will take effect Jan. 1, 2015.
White Sands Trading, LLC, is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and has operated the gift shop since 2005.
The competitive process for the concessions contract was initiated earlier this year with the release of a prospectus. All offers had to be submitted to the National Park Service by Aug. 13, 2014. An evaluation panel of National Park Service technical experts outside White Sands National Monument performed a comprehensive analysis of the proposals and selected the best responsive proposal based on factors identified in the prospectus.
