Enjoy Thanksgiving at Everglades National Park

HOMESTEAD, Florida: The Thanksgiving holiday is a great time to visit Everglades National Park, with special ranger programs making this a wonderful time to experience your back yard national park and the largest wilderness area east of the Rocky Mountains! To celebrate the holiday weekend, ranger-guided programs have been scheduled especially for the Thanksgiving week and visitors of all ages can enjoy a visit to the unique natural and cultural resources of Everglades National Park.

"Come celebrate Thanksgiving with your family at Everglades National Park!" said Acting Superintendent Bob Krumenaker. "Ranger-guided programs are being offered for this special weekend. Or take an organized tram or boat tour, or create your own self-guided adventure in the park on one of the park's many trails that can be accessed via bike, boat, or boot (hikes)."

There is a wide variety of programs that provide memorable opportunities to experience Everglades National Park. In addition to ranger programs, there are boat tours and boat rentals available at Flamingo and the Gulf Coast area of the park and Tram Tours and bike rentals at Shark Valley.

The full slate of free, ranger-led programs will beginDec. 22, 2014. During the park's busy, winter season, seasonal park rangers help provide increased programming. Look for more information on our website about ranger-guided programs offered in all areas of the park with easy access from Naples to Miami at the Gulf Coast, Shark Valley, Royal Palm, and Flamingo park areas.

Some ranger-guided programs require reservations in advance. For your personal comfort and safety, visitors are encouraged to bring water, sunscreen, and appropriate footwear.
