BOULDER CITY, Nevada -The National Park Service is in the process of preparing a foundation document for planning and management of Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
The public is invited to participate in the process by reviewing and providing comments to the draft document.
A foundation document involves revisiting a national park unit's core mission and significance, most important resources and values, and the interpretive themes that tell the park's important stories. It is not a decision-making document and does not include actions or management strategies. Instead, it describes a shared understanding of what is most important about the park.
The final foundation document will reestablish the underlying guidance for future management and planning decisions.
Comments and recommendations regarding the foundation document will be accepted through Feb. 18, 2015. They may be submitted by U.S. Mail to Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Foundation Document Comments, 601 Nevada Way, Boulder City, NV 89005 or online at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/projectHome.cfm?projectID=56689.
