Throughout American history, women have played a vital role in the nation's war efforts. From carrying water to the men on the battlefield during the Revolutionary War to factory workers during World War II, women desired to serve this nation in the same respect as men. This desire helped propel women through the suffrage movement to being fully integrated into the armed forces.Program participants will gain a better understanding of what role Chickamauga Battlefield played in the training of women serving in the WAC and learn of ties former Chickamauga soldiers had with women and their service in and to the military.
As a reminder, comfortable, supportive footwear, appropriate clothing for the weather and water are recommended for this program.
