"Continued Conflict: The New Mexico Volunteers and the Revival of the Indian Wars 1863-1866"
Las Vegas, NM: Join Ranger Greg Baker for a look into the service of the New Mexico Volunteers from 1863-1866. The New Mexico Volunteers fought to defend New Mexico Territory from invading Confederates during the American Civil War;afterward, they continued to serve in the absence of the regular US Army. Their tasks included engaging with various American Indian tribes in campaigns such as the First Battle of Adobe Walls and the Navajo Long Walk. This program will be held at the CCHP/Santa Fe Trail Interpretive Center, 116 Bridge Street, Las Vegas, New Mexico, Thursday, March 19, 2015, 7:00PM.
