RESCUE UNDERWAY FOR 2 PEOPLE IN MINE SHAFT
BOULDER CITY, Nevada -Two males, 1 adult and 1 juvenile, are reportedly unable to exit a mine near Lake Mead National Recreation Area because of a rattlesnake.
At 10:35 a.m., the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interagency Communication Center received a call reporting that two males were stuck in a mine shaft near Ore Car Mine off of Northshore Road.
National Park Service rangers responded and called in additional assistance from Henderson Fire Department, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Search and Rescue and the Bureau of Land Management.
Around noon, responders made verbal contact with the victims and discovered that they are not able to exit the mine because a rattlesnake is in their path. The rescue is in progress. The victims reportedly have water and protein bars.
This is an ongoing incident.
