Park rangers responded to a report of a gunshot in Denali National Park and Preserve at approximately 9:45 a.m. Tuesday. They found a man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound; he was dead at the scene.
The victim was a 22 year-old male from Arizona. There is nothing conclusive, at this time, to determine whether the shooting was accidental or deliberate.
Alaska State Troopers were also called to the scene and will assist the National Park Service with the investigation.
