BODY RECOVERED AT LAKE MEAD JULY 12

BOULDER CITY, Nevada -The body of an adult male was recovered in the Boulder Basin on Lake Mead July 12 in an area where a man went missing July 5.

Around 8 p.m. July 12, the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interagency Communications Center received a call from a boater reporting that a body was floating near the Boulder Harbor. Rangers responded and recovered the body.

An adult male was reported missing near this area after jumping off a boat. Although he was reportedly wearing a life jacket, it wasn't properly secured and came off while he was in the water. Witnesses said he struggled and was seen going under water.

The National Park Service has been actively searching for the victim with assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard, Nevada Department of Wildlife and volunteers from Earth Resource Group.

The Clark County Medical Examiner will confirm the victim's identity and determine cause of death. The incident is under investigation.
