In celebration of the National Park Service turning 99 years old, the Obed Wild and Scenic River will be hosting a combined birthday celebration and an Art in the Park reception on Friday, Aug. 21, at the Obed Visitor Center, located at 208 North Maiden Street in downtown Wartburg. The reception will start at 5:00 p.m. (ET).
The event will include a display of photographs from the recent Obed photography contest. During the evening, the contest's winning entries will be revealed for five categories: fauna, flora, landscapes, artistic and youth. The Shelter Road Band will be providing a range of Americana, rock and country music as light refreshments are served.
The winning entries have been judged on technical excellence, originality, creativity, visual impact, and artistic merit. For more information, please contact the park at (423) 346-6294.
