BOULDER CITY, Nevada -National Park Service Rangers are searching for a Henderson man who was boating on Lake Mead Aug. 10.
The Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interagency Communications Center received multiple calls between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 10 reporting an unoccupied vessel floating in the Virgin Basin of Lake Mead.
Rangers responded to the scene and located the vessel. No one was on board. The National Park Service began an immediate search on the water. One helicopter from Arizona Department of Public Safety and two helicopters from the U.S. Air Force 66th Rescue Squadron also assisted with the search Aug. 10. The search resumed Aug. 11 with support from the Nevada Army National Guard.
Through the investigation, rangers have learned that the victim launched his boat around 4 a.m. Aug. 10 at Callville Bay. His vessel was located 13 hours later. The search area is about 20-25 square miles.
The incident is under investigation.
