BODY RECOVERED AT LAKE MEAD AUG 18

BOULDER CITY, Nevada - The body of an adult male was recovered in the Virgin Basin at Lake Mead Aug. 18 in an area where a man went missing Aug. 10.

The Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interagency Communications Center received multiple calls between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 10 reporting an unoccupied vessel floating in the Virgin Basin of Lake Mead.

Rangers responded to the scene and located the vessel. No one was on board. The National Park Service has been actively searching for the victim with assistance from the U.S. Air Force, Nevada Army National Guard and volunteers from Earth Resource Group.

At 8:35 a.m. Aug. 18, volunteer search crews from Earth Resource Group located a body near Middle Point using an underwater camera. The body was recovered and transferred to the Clark County Coroner’s office for identification and to determine cause of death.

The incident is under investigation.
