Oyster Bay, N.Y. - On Saturday, September 19th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm Sagamore Hill NHS will be teaming up with Friends of the Bay & the Town of Oyster Bay in International Coastal Clean-up Day. Non-latex gloves and garbage bags will be provided. Please dress appropriately for this activity, location, and the weather. This activity will be rain or shine.
Sagamore Hill’s coastline falls within the boundaries of the Oyster Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Visitors may view herons, belted kingfishers, and horseshoe crabs, among many other types of wildlife. This is also the beach that Theodore Roosevelt and his family enjoy swimming, rowing, and camping. So it’s important we keep this vital resource clean. Additional sites for the International Coastal Clean-up Day include Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park, Stohli Beach, Centre Island Beach, and West Neck Beach.
