Deborah LaFogg Docherty November Coe Gallery Exhibit

Everglades National Park invites the public to enjoy a new art exhibit "My muse the Everglades, A nature painters dream" by Deborah LaFogg Docherty, wildlife and landscape artist.

Docherty paintings are showcased in the Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center Gallery in the park during the month of November.You can meet and talk to Docherty at an Artist's Reception open to the public on Saturday, November 7 (between 2-4 p.m).

Visitors to the Ernest Coe Gallery can also enjoy award-winning natural history displays, an 18-minute film about Everglades National Park, and related book sales as they wander the visitor center.Center hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission to the visitor center is free.

According to the artist, "Everglades National Park presented a lot of firsts for me when I moved down here from Connecticut some 36 years ago. I had never seen such a vibrant place overflowing with birds, plants and animals. Every time I visit there's something new to inspire me."

Docherty's art combines her three great loves: nature, the environment, and painting. Docherty is an accomplished artist, who's artwork has been recognized with several awards throughout her career including the Masters Circle award from the International Association of Pastel Societies. Docherty's work has been featured in museums, national and international art shows and International magazines. She has several works in private collections and illustrated a children's book that supported work to save critical habitat in the Florida Keys.
