Temporary Lane and Bridge Closure on Northbound Spur

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Jan. 15, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

Park officials announced the temporary, daytime closure of the Legion Field Bridge near the Gatlinburg Welcome Center for northbound traffic beginning January 25-27, 2016. The closure is necessary to allow work crews from Sevier County Electric System and AT&T to safely replace a power pole and associated conduits near the intersection.

The left lane of the northbound Spur near the Legion Field Bridge intersection will also be closed to all northbound motorists. Northbound traffic must follow the detour to access the southbound Spur. Motorists traveling southbound on the Spur will be allowed to cross the Legion Field Bridge and proceed northbound on the Spur or cross to North Mountain Trail, Little Smoky Road, and Westgate Way. All motorists leaving these areas must proceed northbound through the detour.

The closures are scheduled from January 25-27, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. each day. These closures may be extended or shortened depending on weather.
