High Surf Advisory for Point Reyes National Seashore in effect from 4 pm Thursday, January 28, through 4 am on Saturday, January 30, 2016

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Jan. 28, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for the Point Reyes National Seashore from today through Saturday morning.

The largest waves will begin to move into the surf zone later this afternoon. In particular, west facing beaches such as McClures Beach, Kehoe Beach, Point Reyes Beach North, and Point Reyes Beach South could be affected by this dangerous wave activity.

Waves are expected to have long lulls between each set of waves. This may increase the risk of being washed off of the beach by sneaker waves. There may also be strong rip currents associated with these waves.

For additional safety tips, visit our website at https://www.nps.gov/pore/planyourvisit/beaches.htm#beachsafety.

Be sure to always have your eyes on the ocean.
