Time:10 am -11 am

Length: 1 mile

Difficulty Level: Easy, Level Terrain

Take a step towards getting healthy in your National Park by joining a ranger-led walk at the Mound City Group Earthwork. The walk will take visitors along the shaded nature trail that winds around the perimeter of the earthwork and along a stretch of the Scioto River before entering the earthwork interior. Walkers will learn about Ohio's prehistoric past, while walking their way towards a healthier lifestyle.

"We know that an average of 22 minutes a day of physical activity -such as brisk walking in a National Park -can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes," said U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek H. Murthy. "The key is to get started because even a small first effort can make a big difference in improving the personal health of an individual and the public health of the nation.

This walk is the first of a series of programs that will be offered at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park this year to celebrate the National Park Service Centennial. To learn more about park programs, follow us on Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter.
