Biscayne National Park Welcomes 100 New Americans in Honor of the 100th National Park Service Birthday

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on April 26, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

HOMESTEAD, Fla. --- Biscayne National Park is hosting eight separate ceremonies to welcome at least 100 new citizens in the four months leading up to the 100th birthday of the National Park Service. The ceremonies begin at 9:00 and 11:00 AM on May 5 and 6, July 15 and Aug. 25, 2016, are open to the public and take place in the park’s Dante Fascell Visitor Center.

"National parks represent our great nation in mountains and valleys, forests and deserts, oceans and rivers," said Acting Superintendent Bill Cox. “But they also represent our history and where we came from as a nation of immigrants. Biscayne National Park is an ideal setting for such an important event."

The National Park Service and U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services recently partnered to host naturalization ceremonies in national parks across the country. Biscayne National Park welcomed over 1,000 individuals into the ranks of citizenship and their new roles as owners of the most treasured places in America.

The Dante Fascell Visitor Center is located nine miles east of Homestead at 9700 SW 328th Street/Sir Lancelot Jones Way.
