Where: Former Orick Lumber Mill and future site of Redwood National and State Parks’ Visitor Center, at junction of Highway 101 and Bald Hills Road, north of Orick, Calif. Why: Public celebration of the National Park Service’s first 100 years, with a “look forward" to next 100 years of service. Michael Muir, advocate for improved access for individuals with disabilities, will offer free rides in fully-accessible, horse-drawn wagon. The park will unveil a plaque honoring Stephen T. Mather, first director of the National Park Service and a founder of Save the Redwoods League.
