Grand Canyon, Ariz. - National Park Service fire managers on the North Rim of Grand Canyon have decided to manage the Fuller Fire for multiple objectives.
The lightning-caused fire is currently burning in dead and downed fuels north of Fuller Canyon Road, about three miles west/southwest of Point Imperial. The fire is approximately one acre and continued growth is anticipated based on current and expected weather conditions. Fire managers anticipate this will be a low-intensity fire with the potential to burn for weeks. There are no road or trail closures in effect at this time; however smoke may be visible from Highway 67 and the North Rim.
The Fuller Fire is being managed for both resource and protection objectives. Resource objectives include returning fire to a fire-adapted ecosystem and protection objectives include the protection of sensitive wildlife habitat.
