Farm Land Available at Antietam

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on July 8, 2016. It is reproduced in full below.

Antietam National Battlefield announces that as of Oct. 1, 2016, the following acreages will be available for use by a Cooperator:

29 acres of pasture land at Joseph Poffenberger Farm

68 acres of crop fields at Joseph Poffenberger Farm

100 acres of pasture land at Piper Farms.

These acreages may administered under separate permits.

These acres will be administered under a special use permit, issued by the Resource Management Division of the battlefield. A flat rate of $50.00 per acre for crop and $25.00 per acre for pasture will be assessed bi-annually in the months of October and April.

If you are interested in applying for a permit, please contact Natural Resources Manager, Joe Calzarette to receive an application package. The applications are due back to the Resources office no later than the close of business, Sept. 2, 2016. If you would like to see the fields, please contact Joe at 301-432-2243 and he will schedule a time with you.
