The Denali Park Road will remain closed tonight, but there will be two opportunities tomorrow, for buses and other vehicles to travel through the mudslide area at mile 67. The set times for traffic movement are planned for 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
All westbound traffic should be standing by at Eielson Visitor Center, and all eastbound traffic should stage west of the closure at the appointed times. There will be further alerts if times or road conditions change.
Lodge and Visitor Transit buses that were waiting to travel east today, were able to do so, and there are no longer any staff or visitors marooned on the west side of the slide.
Please email the bus company (or call them at 907-683-9274) with inquiries about access to Wonder Lake or Kantishna. This closure does not impact visitors riding Natural History or Tundra Wilderness Tours, nor visitors riding Toklat or Eielson-bound shuttle buses. Only people riding a bus to Wonder Lake or Kantishna, or staying in Wonder Lake Campground or a Kantishna-area private lodge, will potentially see changes to their schedule.
