Come join the staff of Denali National Park and Preserve as we celebrate the 100th birthday of the National Park Service with the dedication of a new community day use area at Riley Creek.
The celebration is from 4-6:30 p.m. Aug. 25, 2016, and will include children’s activities, live music and light refreshments. No advanced registration is required and events are open to the public.
“This month we celebrate the 100th birthday of the National Park Service," said Don Striker, Superintendent of Denali National Park and Preserve. “We are pleased to share our birthday celebration and dedicate this new visitor opportunity with our friends and neighbors."
The new day use area at Riley Creek is a repurposed overflow parking lot that now contains covered picnic shelters, tables and restrooms. As part of the dedication event, park staff will offer a range of activities to include information stations to meet a ranger, participate in a children’s community art project and interactive junior ranger activities.
The National Park Service invites visitors of all ages to join in the celebration of its 100th birthday throughout the month of August. With special events across the country, and free admission to all 412 national parks from August 25 through Aug. 28, the NPS is encouraging everyone to #FindYourPark/ #EncuentraTuParque for the centennial.
