In celebration of Denali National Park and Preserve's Centennial in 2017, the park is seeking a diverse suite of voices to help share the unique story of Denali through art. Alaska Native artists and artists between the ages of 16 and 25 are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Artist-in-Residence program is dedicated to exploring new ways for visitors to experience Denali National Park and Preserve. From hundreds of competitive applications each year, about a half-dozen accomplished artists, writers and composers are invited by the park superintendent to spend time in one of the park’s historic ranger patrol cabins. Travel to the park is the artist’s responsibility. Artists under the age of 18 will be required to have parent/guardian chaperone during their residency.
Requirements: Artists are required to lead a public outreach activity and may be asked to donate a finished work to the program collection. Artists are challenged to create works that convey a fresh and innovative perspective of Denali drawn from direct experience. Artists are encouraged to provide additional outreach when they return to their homes.
How to apply: Applications are accepted online only through a process hosted by CaFÉ (CallForEntry.org) from May 1 through September 30. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. If you cannot apply using the CaFé system, contact the program administrator below.
