STORM DAMAGE CAUSES COTTONWOOD COVE ROAD CLOSURE
BOULDER CITY, Nevada - Cottonwood Cove Road remains closed east of Searchlight, Nevada, due to recent storm damage.
Over the past 24 hours, storms dumped 1 1/2 inches of rain near Cottonwood Cove, causing flash flooding. National Park Service rangers and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers closed the road around 10 p.m. Aug. 26.
The road, which provides access to Cottonwood Cove Marina and Six Mile Cove, has been washed out in some locations and is covered with debris in other locations. Most of the damage is west of Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Clark County.
Employees and individuals who are at the resort and marina are able to leave the area; however four-wheel drive is recommended. Other visitors who bypass the closure may be cited by law enforcement.
Crews are on the scene assessing the damages.
According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance for more rain this afternoon.
