Skagway - Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park initiates a transitional schedule with the conclusion of summer tours and closure of buildings in September. These are some of the final opportunities to experience your park during the 2016 National Park Service Centennial.
Museum closes for constructionSeptember 16
BeginningSeptember 16th, the NPS museum on 2nd Avenue will be closed for installation of the park’s new permanent exhibits which will open later this winter. Stop in bySeptember 15thfor your last chance to see 13 paintings by renowned Yukon artist Ted Harrison depicting the Cremation of Sam McGee by Robert Service on loan from the Yukon Art Centre.
Junior Ranger Activity Center
September 15this your last chance to earn a Junior Ranger badge, Centennial Junior Ranger badge, and National Historic Preservation Act Junior Ranger badge at the Junior Ranger Activity Center.
Moore Homestead and Mascot Saloon Museum
The Moore Homestead remains open for its regular 10:00-5:00 hours through September 21st. The last day of the Mascot Saloon Museum is September 27th.
Jeff. Smiths Parlor Museum
The Jeff. Smiths Parlor Museum is open every day in September that a ship is in port. Jeff. Smiths Parlor is free on September 27th!
Visitor Center
The NPS Visitor Center is open every day in September that a ship is in port. The film Gold Fever: Race to the Klondike is available.
Tours
September 15 this your last chance for a free guided ranger hike on the existing trail system at the Dyea Townsite. Look for new trails and interpretive signs in Dyea next year!
