Dr. Mark Harvey to Speak in NPS Centennial Series

Gunnison, CO: In commemoration of its Centennial year, the National Park Service has created a monthly special speaker series. The series is being offered by the National Park Service in cooperation with Western State Colorado University’s Center for Environment and Sustainability, and Colorado Mesa University’s Montrose campus.

The November speaker in this series will be noted historian and author Dr. Mark Harvey. Dr. Harvey will present “Howard Zahniser and the Vision for America's Wilderness" on Nov. 10, at 7 pm in Kelley Hall, room 116 on the Western State Colorado University campus. Admission is free.

Dr. Harvey is a Professor of History at North Dakota State University. He is the author of several books and publications including Wilderness Forever: Howard Zahniser and the Path to the Wilderness Act and A Symbol of Wilderness: Echo Park and the American Conservation Movement.
