December Public Programs at War in the Pacific National Historical Park

Dec. 3, Saturday: 2 pm at Visitor Center - “History Revealed: Chamorros on the Day of Infamy"

Chamorros on the Day of Infamy, December 7, 1941. Join Commander Marvin Michael Dodge, USN Ret. and the park’s historian Dave Lotz as they pay tribute to the 12 men from Guam who perished at Pearl Harbor in the Japanese attack. (1 hour)

Dec. 10, Saturday: 9 am at Apaca Point - “Keep Guam Beautiful"

This community cleanup will take place at Apaca Point - a former WWII invasion beach. Cold water in coolers, protective gloves, and trash bags will be provided. Please bring refillable water bottles and wear closed-toe shoes, hats, and sunscreen.

Dec. 10, Saturday: 12:45 pm at Visitor Center - “Live Ship to Shore: Searching for Life in the Mariana Back Arc"

Join us for a live Ship-to-Shore Connection from the brand-new research vessel SuBastian of the Schmidt Ocean Institute. The Institute works to advance the frontiers of global marine research by providing state of the art operational, technological and informational support to the pioneering ocean science and technology development projects at sea. Visitors will have a chance to interact with the crew on board the research vessel. (1 hour)

Dec. 10, Saturday: 2 pm at Visitor Center - “History Revealed: The Defense of Guam"

The Defense of Guam: Dec. 10, 1941. Our program describes the events leading up to the war on Guam, the Japanese invasion, and those who defended the island that leads to two and a half years of oppressive, brutal rule. (1 hour)

Dec. 18, Sunday: 2 pm at Visitor Center - “Science Sunday"

Science Sunday features current research projects happening right here in Guam and the Micronesian region. For more information on this event, call 333-4050 or email gureefmonitoring@gmail.com. (1 hour)

Dec. 23, Friday: 6 pm at Asan Beach - “Movies in the Park"

Come celebrate the holiday season with Movies in the Park. Bring your family to Asan Beach for a holiday themed movie night in the park. Please bring water, flashlights, insect repellant and your beach chair, or mat. The movie will be shown on a large screen and is free and family friendly.
