Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve is hosting the Sixth Annual Science & History Symposium on Friday, Jan. 27, 2017 at the historic Ribault Club on Fort George Island in Jacksonville, Florida. Researchers, students and community members are invited to engage in presentations on exciting research projects occurring in the Timucuan Preserve State and National Parks. This year’s symposium features a diverse array of topics from astronomy to zoology, and offers participants opportunities for collaboration and networking. The Timucuan Science & History Symposium is sponsored by the National Park Service, the Florida Park Service, and the Timucuan Parks Foundation.
Superintendent Chris Hughes announced that, “This year we hope to inspire natural and cultural resource professional development among our next generation of scientists and resource management leaders that will guide us into another century of stewardship of Jacksonville’s National Park. The 2017 Symposium will feature two recipients of Timucuan Student Research grants administered by the Timucuan Parks Foundation and generous sponsors of the symposium."
Early Bird registration ($25) is open from now until Jan. 1, 2017. Regular registration begins Jan. 2, 2017 at $35. Student registration is $10 from now until registration closes on January 23rd.
