Fourth grade classrooms and students are invited to participate in an art contest at Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area to earn their Every Kid in a Park Pass.
As part of the commitment to protect our nation’s unique outdoor spaces and ensure that every American has the opportunity to visit and enjoy them, the Every Kid in a Park initiative allows fourth graders nationwide to go to www.everykidinapark.gov and obtain a pass for free entry for them and their families to more than 2,000 federally managed lands and waters nationwide for an entire year starting Sept. 1, 2015.
To enter students may complete any activity to learn about the Big South Fork NRRA. On an 8 ½ x 11" sheet of white paper or card stock, draw a picture of something they learned about. Artwork can be completed using paint, crayon, marker, color pencil, or pencil.
Submit entries to the park by April 3, 2017 by mail or bring to the Bandy Creek Visitor Center or Park Headquarters. Entries will be displayed during the 17th annual Spring Planting and Music Festival on April 29, 2017, where visitor’s may vote on a “People’s Choice Award." All fourth grade students submitting an entry will earn a voucher in which they can redeem at the park for an Every Kid in a Park pass!
