Visitation statistics are calculated by using a combination of visitor center numbers, trail counters plus the actual number of wheeled vehicles entering the park gates and using a person-per-vehicle multiplier to calculate the number of monthly recreational visitors. Detailed park visitation information and additional information on how these statistics are calculated is available online at https://irma.nps.gov/Stats/Reports/Park/DINO.

The first four months of 2016 showed a decrease in visitation over 2015, most likely due to more typical winter conditions than the previous year. May through December all showed increases over the previous year. The 4% increase in visitation the monument experienced this year was on top of the 16% increase that occurred in 2015.
