Exit Glacier Area Open to Snowmachine Use, 2017

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Jan. 25, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Kenai Fjords National Park announces that the Exit Glacier area is now open for snowmachine use.

Snowmachines are now permitted in the park’s developed area, specifically the road to Exit Glacier, parking areas, a designated route through the campground to Exit Creek, and within Exit Creek. As long as there is adequate snow depth, snow density, and frozen soil that prevent damage to park resources snowmachine activity will continue to be permitted.

We encourage visitors to recreate safely in the park, to dress appropriately for cold and wet conditions, and to let someone know what your plans are. If there are any questions concerning conditions or regulations, contact the park at (907) 422-0500.
