The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on March 23, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Washington - The National Park Service, in cooperation with The Trust for the National Mall, is moving the Lockkeeper’s House at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 17th Street as the first phase of the rehabilitation of Constitution Gardens. In order to safely accommodate the construction activities involved with moving the building, a single lane of southbound 17th Street SW will be closed between Constitution Avenue and Home Front Drive, SW (at the World War II Memorial) for the duration of the project.

The lane closure will start Thursday, March 23, 2017 and is anticipated to last for approximately one year.

One lane southbound lane and both northbound lanes of 17th Street will remain open at all times during this period.
