Watrous, NM: Fort Union National Monument announces its annual Junior Ranger Day celebration on Sunday, April 16th, 2017. Come out for a family-friendly day of events that include a black powder demonstration and a scavenger hunt. The black powder artillery demonstration will start at11:00 a.m. At 1:00 p.m. families will be led on scavenger hunt through the fort, looking for a variety of natural and man-made objects found in the park. Throughout the day, 4th grade students can pick up an Every Kid in a Park Pass from the rangers, which gives them and their families a free annual pass to federal parks, lands and waters.

To visit the monument, take Exit 366 off I-25 at Watrous, NM, onto State Hwy. 161, 8 miles.
