Stones River National Battlefield Modifies Visitor Center Hours Beginning May 22

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on May 9, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Murfreesboro, TN - Beginning Monday, May 22, the Stones River National Battlefield visitor center will open to the public at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. daily. The gates to the tour road, Stones River National Cemetery, Redoubt Brannan, and McFadden Farm unit will continue to open at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.

“The staff at Stones River National Battlefield takes pride in providing the highest level of service to our visitors," said Superintendent Brenda Waters. “This small change in our hours of operation will allow us to continue offering that service while providing a sustainable operation."

This change in visitor center hours will not affect the public’s ability to access the park, which will remain open to pedestrians and bicyclists from sunrise to sunset with parking available in the visitor center parking lot. All gated areas will continue to open at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.

The visitor center and gated areas will continue to be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
