Summer Alcohol Ban Begins June 1st, 2017

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on May 26, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Superintendent F. Gus Sanchez reminds those planning to visit Chamizal National Memorial in the coming months of our summer alcohol ban. The ban is in effect from June 1 - August 31 of each year, traditionally our hottest months in the northern Chihuahuan Desert, for visitor safety and to promote family-oriented park experiences. For these reasons, no outside alcohol is permitted on the Memorial grounds at any time during these months; during Music Under the Stars concerts in July, it will be available for purchase from the vendor operating under a park permit.
