Rome, NY - On Saturday, June 17, Fort Stanwix National Monument is hosting Junior Ranger Day. Junior Rangers is a National Park Service-wide program that encourages children to explore, learn about, and protect their favorite parks. The event begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.
The theme of the day is: “Past Tales, New Discoveries." Children of all ages, and their families, are welcome to come and discover how the staff at Fort Stanwix work together to share park history and the mission of the National Park Service.
“We’ll have lots of hands-on activities for the kids who come through, as well as opportunities to speak with the rangers and staff that take care of the park," said Park Ranger William Sawyer, “At Fort Stanwix, we hope this event will allow our new Junior Rangers to discover more about whatever special places they treasure."
The next event happening at Fort Stanwix is Family Films at the Fort: Jurassic Park on Friday, June 30, at 8:45 p.m. A full schedule of park events can be found on www.nps.gov/fost. All park events are free.
