Rockfall Closes El Portal Road and Arch Rock Entrance (Highway 140) Entrance to Yosemite National Park

Road will remain closed for at least 24 hours

A rockfall reported today around Noon has closed the El Portal Road and Arch Rock Entrance in Yosemite National Park. The rockfall was reported inside the park boundary about two miles east of the park line in El Portal. There are no injuries or damage to traveling vehicles reported.

Park Rangers and geologists are on site assessing the rockfall. The road will remain closed for at least 24 hours. All other open park entrances remain open and operational (Tioga Road remains closed).

No further information is available at this time. A news release will be issued with updates and status of the road.
