The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on June 12, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

INDIANA DUNES NATIONAL LAKESHORE: Kids of all ages are invited to celebrate and play in the outdoors at the Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore on Saturday, June 17, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This program will be spent building forts, hiking in Miller Woods, doing a free craft activity, and feeding our resident fish, turtles, snakes, toads and frogs. Parents can watch their children’s creativity blossom during these relaxing two hours. This program will also be offered on July 1, July 15, August 5 and August 19. Rangers will guide these programs and there is no need to pre-register.

Afterwards explore the area by hopping on the free Dunes Shuttle service that makes stops at Marquette Park, the Miller South Shore Railroad Station, Douglas Center and Lake Street Beach from 10 am to 6 pm.

The Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education is at 100 North Lake Street, about one mile north of U.S. Highway 12 in the Miller neighborhood of Gary.
