Skagway - Join Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park on Aug. 1, 2017, from 7:00-8:00 pm at the park visitor center conference room at Second Ave and Broadway to discuss the feasibility of public transit service between Skagway and Dyea.
Klondike National Gold Rush Historical Park is in the early stages of evaluating existing conditions and potential business models to support expanded, regularly scheduled transit access to the Dyea site. The park is particularly interested in exploring how different business models, such as commercial use authorizations, concessions contracts, cooperative agreements, or service contracts, can support increasing numbers of visitors and support local economic development.
Staff from the Park, the National Park Service Alaska Region, Federal Highway Administration, and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Volpe National Transportation Systems Center will be available to present the purpose and goals of the feasibility study, share initial findings, and then hold a listening session with the public to learn about stakeholder and community perspectives on transit access to Dyea.
