Blue Mesa Reservoir Boat Inspection Changes for September

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Aug. 14, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Gunnison, CO: The National Park Service and Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff have been busy protecting Blue Mesa Reservoir from harmful Aquatic Invasive Species this season and have appreciated the cooperation of our boaters. As we move into the fall season, boaters should be aware of the following inspection station and ramp closures and hours changes.

Starting Tuesday, September 5, the Ponderosa and Stevens Creek inspection stations and ramps are closed for the season.

From Tuesday, September 5 through Saturday, Sept. 30, the Elk Creek, Lake Fork, and Iola inspection stations and ramps will be open from 6:30 am to 7 pm.

Boaters are reminded that it is their responsibility to be off the lake before the ramps close for the day. Ramps are locked outside of inspection hours.

Many boats will exit Lake Fork and Elk Creek in September based on marina slip closures. Boaters should plan for possible delays due to inspection and decontamination stations being busy with multiple vessels.

Superintendent Bruce Noble said, “I’d like to thank our boaters and anglers as we begin to wrap up another great boating and fishing season at Blue Mesa Reservoir. Your cooperation helps us keep Blue Mesa free from harmful plants and animals."
