MEDORA, ND: Celebrate the National Park Service birthday with a visit to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Entrance fees will be waived in honor of the 101st birthday of the National Park Service, Friday, Aug. 25, 2017.

The National Park Service will waive entrance fees on three more days in 2017: National Public Lands Day on September 30; and Veterans Day Weekend, November 11-12.

The two other national park units in North Dakota - Fort Union Trading Post National Historic Site, near Williston and Knife River Indian Villages National Historic Site, near Stanton, are among the more than 200 national parks that never charge entrance fees.

Park staff would like to remind the public that the last day to buy an Interagency Senior Pass for $10 is Aug. 27, 2017. United States Citizens and Permanent United States Residents may purchase a lifetime Interagency Senior Pass to cover entrance fees. Passes may be purchased at either the North Unit or South Unit Entrance Station, online through www.yourpassnow.com, www.store.usgs.gov, or by calling the USGS Store at 888-Ask-USGS (275-8747). On Aug. 28, 2017, the price for the lifetime Interagency Senior Pass will increase to $80 for a lifetime pass or $20 for an Annual Senior Pass.
