The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Aug. 24, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

In honor of the National Park Service’s Founder’s Day, Colorado National Monument will offer free entrance to all visitors on Aug. 25, 2017. We invite everyone take a hike, a drive, a bicycle ride or peruse the exhibits in the visitor center.

On Aug. 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed legislation to create the National Park Service. Today, there are 413 National Park Service sites throughout the country and each one tells an important part of the American story. Some commemorate notable people and achievements, others conserve magnificent landscapes and natural wonders, and all provide places of inspiration, fun and learning.

Summer hours are currently in effect at Colorado National Monument. The visitor center is open from 8 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
