Watch out for Glass on the Beach

Large quantities of broken glass have been found on a stretch of Lake Michigan beach from Lane Road to the Burfiend farm in the Port Oneida Rural Historic District of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore (National Lakeshore). Cleanup is underway and signs are posted at beach entry points. Visitors are warned to wear shoes along the beach from Sunset Shores to Camp Leelanau/Kohahna, and to walk their pets elsewhere until cleanup is complete. No glass containers are allowed on park beaches. Anyone with information about the origin of this glass is asked to contact the park at 231-326-4742 or email at e-mail us.
