Volunteer on Make A Difference Day, October 28

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Oct. 6, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Cape Hatteras National Seashore will be hosting a volunteer event Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 in recognition of Make A Difference Day -- the largest national day of community service. Cape Hatteras National Seashore is looking for volunteers to plant sea oats for dune restoration along Ramp 4. The drop-in event starts at 9 am and will continue throughout the day until the work is finished, or until 4 pm, whichever comes first. Meet park staff at Ramp 4.

Please park across the highway from Ramp 4 at the public boat ramp parking lot behind the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. NC Highway 12 is a busy route with no pedestrian crosswalk. Use caution while crossing the highway.

Bring leather gloves, water, and lunch/snacks. Wear appropriate clothing including closed toe shoes. Tools will be provided. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian with them.

October 28 is a day to celebrate the power of people to make a difference in our communities and public lands. For additional volunteer opportunities with the National Park Service, visit www.volunteer.gov.
