General Management Plan and Environmental Assessment

The National Park Service (NPS) has released a draft General Management Plan and Environmental Assessment for Kings Mountain National Military Park (NMP) near Blacksburg, South Carolina. The plan presents three alternative management strategies, including the no-action (or no change) alternative, as well as the environmental impacts and costs for each alternative.

All interested persons are invited to learn more about the plan and to provide comments and ask questions at two public open house meetings on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. The meetings will be held at the Kings Mountain NMP visitor center auditorium. The park entrance is located 2 miles from Exit #2 on I-85 in North Carolina (turn left from southbound; turn right from northbound) and the park visitor center is located 2 miles from the park entrance sign on South Carolina Highway 216 which is also known as Battleground Road. For those using a GPS unit, the coordinates are 35.14081111 (North) and -81.37627777 (West).
