Artillery Programs at Chickamauga Battlefield - October 21

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service on Oct. 11, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

Fort Oglethorpe, GA: On Saturday, Oct. 21, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will be conducting artillery programs at the Brotherton Cabin (Tour Stop 4), in Chickamauga Battlefield, at 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm, and 3:30 pm, with each program lasting approximately 30 minutes. The Brotherton Cabin is located along LaFayette Road, at the intersection of Brotherton Road and Dyer Road. Please follow the “Special Event" signs to the parking area.

The fields and woods around the Brotherton farm are most often associated with the Confederate breakthrough on Sept. 20, 1863. However, it was the scene of vicious and chaotic fighting the day before, as Union and Confederate forces struggled over control of the LaFayette Road. Join us for this cannon firing demonstration to learn about the role that artillery played in this chaotic fight.
