HOMESTEAD, Fla. --- A new photography exhibit Celebration! by Kirsten Hines, opens in the Dante Fascell Visitor Center gallery at Biscayne National Park on Oct. 18, 2017. An opening reception takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Oct. 22, 2017, that features an opportunity to meet the artist along with fellow author James A. Kushlan. The free exhibit and reception mark the beginning of the park’s 50th anniversary celebration.
In the new book Biscayne National Park, authors Kirsten Hines and James A. Kushlan tell the story of the park and area from thousands of years ago, the designation of a national monument in 1968, and to the present day. The exhibit celebrates the golden 50-year park anniversary with a selection of Kirsten’s recent photographs of the park. The exhibit is on display daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Jan. 14, 2018. Kirsten and James will be available to sign their book at the opening reception for the exhibit.
Celebration! is part of the community artists program, started in 1997 as an outlet for the works of artists inspired by the beauty of the park. The program is made possible by the South Florida National Parks Trust.
